Key company milestones:
July 2007: Stella Travel Services, the Australian
owned global travel organisation, acquires Travelbag.
2006: Cendant Travel Distribution Services
becomes Travelport and enters into a definitive agreement to be sold by Cendant Corporation to an
affiliate of The Blackstone Group for approximately $4.3 billion.
2005: Acquisition of ebookers group, including
Travelbag, by Cendant Corporation, becoming part of Cendant Travel Distribution Services.
2003: Acquisition of Travelbag Holdings by
ebookers for 55m.
2001: Travelbag Holdings acquires Bridge the
World.
1984: In 1984 Travelbag moved from a rented shop
at 47 High Street to its first freehold premises at 12 High Street, Alton and by 1988 there were 70
staff handling mail order travel arrangements from clients across the UK and Eire.
A Far East department opened which handled
packaged and tailor-made holidays to Thailand, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and Malaysia.
